What I do

In short: my job is to make it run. Here's how.

Concept and solution options

You have a problem on the shop floor, an idea for a new machine or a space that needs a new layout. But no solution yet. That's the moment I most like to get involved.

In a short time I put several solution options side by side, with the pros and cons of each. For that, I borrow from every industry I've worked in. You choose, before any money goes into engineering. That can be about two parts that need to fit together, or about the complete layout of a new production line.

WHAT YOU GET
  • Several solution options, as a sketch or 3D concept
  • The pros and cons of each option, side by side
  • A well-founded choice before any money goes into engineering

Design and engineering

You have an idea, a problem on the shop floor or a line that needs to change. And your own engineering team is fully booked, or the expertise isn't in-house.

I turn it into a concept, develop it into a design and deliver a complete production package your workshop or supplier can start on straight away. From machines and platforms to safety guarding and production areas.

WHAT YOU GET
  • 3D models, usually in Inventor
  • Workshop drawings
  • Bills of materials
  • If required, a complete production package with STEP and DXF files, set up so your production planning can pass it straight on to manufacturing

Complete project

You want a machine or installation. You don't want to manage three parties.

I handle the design and the coordination. Trusted specialists do the calculations, the risk assessment, the CE file and the manual. I check everything before it goes to you.

WHAT YOU GET
  • Everything from design and engineering
  • Strength calculations
  • Risk assessment
  • Technical file for CE
  • Manual
  • Preparation of the EU declaration of conformity

As the manufacturer, you sign the EU declaration of conformity. I make sure the file behind it is right. Exactly what I deliver is set out per project in the quote.

Technical project management

The engineering is already done, or the machine is being built elsewhere. But someone has to keep the whole thing together: planning, suppliers, coordination, FAT and installation.

Then I just handle the coordination. Because I'm an engineer myself, I understand what it's about technically. I translate between your engineers, your suppliers and your customer. Literally, if need be, in English or German.

WHAT YOU GET
  • One point of contact between all parties
  • A schedule with decision points that are actually monitored
  • Support for FAT, installation and handover, on site too
  • Translation of documentation where needed
"He delivers excellent work and thinks beyond just the drawing. He regularly comes up with smart insights and practical solutions that make machines just that bit simpler and smarter to build."
Lubbert Talen, Talen Robotics

How it works in practice

1

You call or email.

A short description of what needs to be built is enough.

2

We explore it together.

Usually within three working days. What does it need to do, what can it cost, and who decides?

3

You get a quote.

With a fixed price and fixed decision points.

4

I get to work.

Regular check-ins along the way. At the kick-off, the big decisions and the handover, I'm there in person.

5

Handover.

Including everything that comes with it.

What I don't take on

  • Billing hours as an extension of your team.
  • Organisations that want to check up on me every day.
  • Companies that mainly want everything to stay the way it was.

Frequently asked

What does it cost?

That depends on what needs to be built. Two parts that need to fit together are a different matter from a complete production line. After the first exploration you get a quote with a fixed price and fixed decision points.

Do you work remotely or on site?

Remotely, as a basis. If the project calls for it, I come over: for the kick-off, for the big decisions or for the FAT and installation.

Can you work in our CAD environment?

I prefer to work on a clearly defined project in my own environment, in Inventor. Working in your environment is possible too, under conditions. We discuss that up front.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, no problem. A lot of my work falls under one.

How soon can you start?

We usually schedule a first exploration within three working days. When the project itself starts depends on its size.

Do you also do just the calculations or the CE file?

No, not separately. They're part of a complete project, where trusted specialists do the calculations and the paperwork and I check everything. If you're only looking for a calculation or a CE file, I'm happy to refer you.

Which countries do you work in?

Everywhere. Mainly in the Netherlands now, previously also in the rest of Europe, Asia and North America. In Dutch, English or German.

Which industries do you work for?

I've worked in, among others, the food industry, robotics and automation, steel construction, oil and gas, petrochemicals, agritech and manufacturing. My approach works anywhere something mechanical needs to be built. It's precisely the combination of industries that sometimes produces solutions you wouldn't come up with inside one industry.

Just give me a call.

Tell me what needs to be built. Within one conversation, you'll know whether I can help.

Ideally I'm there from the first sketch. Deadline already breathing down your neck? Call anyway.
