CONCEPTS · ENGINEERING · PROJECT MANAGEMENT

You want it to run.
No BS.

From first idea to running machine. For machine builders and manufacturers.

You have one problem. You get three solutions.

And the best one ends up running on your shop floor.

"Hey guys, who's actually picking this up?"

Something needs to be built. A machine, an installation, a change to the line. Nobody knows exactly how yet. The design will end up with one party, the calculations with another, and the CE file gets sorted at the end. And the project lead is buried somewhere under his pile of paperwork.

Then another pair of hands you have to manage yourself is no use to you. You need someone who picks it up: comes up with the solution, works it out and keeps the whole thing together.

That's me.

What you get from me

Concept and solution options

You have a problem or an idea, but no solution yet. I quickly put several options side by side, with pros and cons, so you choose before any money goes into engineering.

  • From two parts that need to fit together to a complete production line.
  • Solutions from one industry, applied in another.
  • A decision, before any money goes into engineering.

Design and engineering

From first sketch to a design that can be built and used. Machines, installations, platforms, changes to your line.

  • 3D model, workshop drawings and bills of materials.
  • A production package your workshop can get started with right away.
  • Little back-and-forth: we define the scope and I work it out.

Complete project

Design, calculations, risk assessment, CE file and manuals. I handle the design and the coordination, trusted specialists do the calculations and the paperwork. I check everything before it goes to you.

  • You have one point of contact. I handle the rest.
  • Calculations, CE file and manual are included.
  • I check everything before it goes to you.

Technical project management

The engineering is already done, but nobody is keeping the whole thing together. Then I just handle the coordination, from planning to installation.

  • A project manager who is an engineer himself.
  • Support up to and including FAT and installation.
  • Also in English and German.
Veni.

I map it out and start with the basics. What does it need to do, what can it cost, and who decides? Simple questions, but the answer is often less clear than everyone thinks.

Vidi.

I say what I see. Where it can be better, simpler or cheaper, I put concrete proposals on the table. We choose together, and after that a decision stays a decision.

Solvi.

I finish it. Until it runs.

I work mostly remotely, and I'm there in person at the moments that matter: the kick-off, the big decisions and the handover.

A few things that are running now.

More projects
WermTech packaging robot for a German truck manufacturer

Built in Sweden. Delivered in German.

The problem: "We have sold a machine to Germany and now found out that they mainly speak German."

The result: Nothing lost in translation. WermTech would rather move an appointment than do it without me.

Meshnex stainless steel vision housing above a conveyor

A camera that only sees what it needs to see.

The problem: Meshnex builds vision software, but has no mechanical engineering of its own.

The result: Meshnex now sells a complete product instead of half a solution.

Realised guarding with hinged doors in a production area

Guarding without boxing everything in.

The problem: In eight departments the guarding no longer met the standards, but everything had to stay accessible.

The result: All eight departments meet the standards again, and work carries on as normal.

"Herman asks the right (critical) questions at the right time to keep the assignment moving efficiently, knows what he's talking about and communicates well. We didn't notice the 1,000 km between us at all."

Herman Koobs, mechanical engineer and project manager at Koobs Engineering

I come in like a cuddly puppy. But once I get going, I fight like a lion for your result.

I'm Herman Koobs, mechanical engineer and project manager since 2013. I work for machine builders, OEMs and manufacturers, in the Netherlands and far beyond.

Not impressed by your titles, impressed by your results. I say what I see, preferably with a joke. That way I can tell you anything, without you having to get angry with me.

I speak Dutch, English, German and enough Swedish to order coffee. And a Dutch dialect even the Dutch don't understand.

More about me

Just give me a call.

Tell me what needs to be built. Within one conversation, you'll know whether I can help.

Ideally I'm there from the first sketch. Deadline already breathing down your neck? Call anyway.
